Donald Partyka is a Creative Director, Typographer, and Educator who specializes in magazines and books. 
His art direction, typography and graphic design have been recognized and awarded by The Society of Publication Designers, Folio Magazine's Ozzie Awards, The Society of Illustrators, 3x3, American Illustration, Latin American Ilustración, Latin American Fotografía, Communication Arts and Letter Arts Review. His work has been featured in the book Typography Essentials by Ina Saltz and in typography courses on lynda.com. The 400-page monograph he designed, Typography, Referenced, was named to the 2013 Outstanding Reference Sources List.
In 2007, Donald launched the policy journal Americas Quarterly, published by Americas Society/Council of the Americas. He continues to serve as the Creative Director at AQ, while teaching at City College and working with additional clients in his studio. Recent projects include the design of the monograph Typography, Referenced for Rockport Publishing, designing infographics and reports for McGraw-Hill, and reports and newsletters for The Atlantic Council and The Arthritis Foundation.
Early in his career, Donald was a co-founder of the studio Point Five Design, where he redesigned Poets&Writers magazine and was one of the art directors of Linguafranca when it was nominated for a National Magazine Award. He moved on to become the Managing Art Director of Guideposts, an inspirational magazine with a circulation of over 2.5 million. During his tenure there he art-directed multiple award-winning illustration assignments, winning a gold medal from the Society of Illustrators. He has also worked for American Heritage, Brill's Content, Time magazine, Perspectiva in Colombia, among others.
Donald received his BFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and graduated from the Post-Graduate Certificate Program in Typeface Design at Cooper Union. He has taught graphic design and typography at Parson's School of Design and Pratt Institute, and has lectured on typography for professional marketing students at NYU. Currently he is Adjunct Professor at the City College of New York.
He has served on juries for competitions for the Society of Publication Designers, Folio Magazine's Ozzie Awards, and Latin American Fotografía.
